Job summary

Independence House is seeking an entry-level kitchen aide to perform a variety of kitchen duties under supervision, ensuring safe, sanitary food service for residents.

Responsibilities include food preparation for the neighborhood, operating dish machine, cleaning, restocking storage areas, and following dress standards and training requirements. Minimum age 16 and basic reading, writing, and math skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Able to write simple correspondence and speak in sentences.
• Able to add, subtract and count two-digit numbers.
• Positive, service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Capable of providing care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Provide dietary services appropriate to residents' needs in the assigned area.
• Demonstrate leadership and accountability for quality food service.
• Keep the kitchen area clean and sanitary; operate the dish machine; wash pots and pans; sweep and mop floors; remove trash.
• Restock shelves and storage areas with food service equipment.
• Adhere to dress standards and attend mandatory training and meetings.
• Demonstrate the organization’s mission, vision, and values to promote resident satisfaction.
• Comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
