Job summary

Elderwood Assisted Living at Tonawanda is seeking a compassionate Cook to prepare nutritious, delicious meals for residents, following rotating menus and tested recipes. You will join a close-knit kitchen team delivering high-quality dining experiences in a caring environment.

Responsibilities include reviewing menus, preparing items, tasting for quality, maintaining sanitation, and ensuring proper food handling and serving temperatures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food preparation experience required.
• Ability to organize food preparation activities.
• Commitment to high hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and production sheets to determine quantities for regular and special diet needs.
• Prepare specified food items as assigned.
• Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples.
• Ensure sanitation and safety standards are met throughout preparation and cooking.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of equipment and kitchen areas.
• Supervise cooking and ensure food is held and served at correct temperatures.
• Assist with preparation and distribution of foodstuffs.
