Job summary

Yona is seeking a cook to join the team in a role focused on preparing meals with care for residents, visitors, and coworkers. You will work under the food services director to ensure safe, timely service and consistent quality in a hospitable environment.

The position requires proven cooking experience, knowledge of sanitation standards, and the ability to follow recipes and safety procedures. A high school diploma is required; some food services certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cook
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines
• Skilled in preparing meals according to instructions
• Apt in operating cookware, bakeware and cooking appliances
• Friendly with good communication skills
• Good physical condition and stamina
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in food services is a plus
• Must provide a criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Prepares food according to the menu under the direction of the food services director
• Ensures proper preparation, portioning, and serving of foods according to standardized recipes
• Prepares quality food products according to standardized recipes and menus
• Adheres to all safety and sanitation standards
• Prepares food in a timely manner at specified meal times
• Responds to community issues or concerns in the dining room
• Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules
• Follows proper cleaning procedures and storage of all dishes, utensils and cooking equipment
• Ensures all food in refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage are labeled and dated
• Oversees proper food handling and utilization to prevent contamination, increase quality, and reduce cost
• Suggests menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers and other supplies
• Cleans all food service equipment, kitchen and food storage areas
