Job summary

Distinctive Living is seeking a Cook (Full-Time) for Maumee Pointe Assisted Living. The Cook works under the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality and supports all activities of the Restaurant and Hospitality Department and Dining Room, ensuring meals meet nutritional standards and residents’ preferences.

You will follow the Menu Program, assist with food purchasing as directed, maintain safe food handling practices, keep equipment and kitchen areas clean, and contribute to a positive dining

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in food service required.
• Minimum of three years' experience in food service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality with planning, directing, controlling, communicating, and coaching in the Food Service Department.
• Follows the Menu Program that meets nutritional requirements, as directed by the Director, Food Service. If assisting with food purchasing, then follows buying practices approved by the management company.
• Responds to resident likes and dislikes maintaining high resident satisfaction. Ensures that all foods are prepared to the satisfaction of residents and in accordance with safe food handling practices.
• Maintains food temperatures and time controls during storage, production, and serving according to required food safety standards.
• Ensures that staff provides a service to maintain good resident experiences during meal times.
• Provides input and support to the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality on new hires and training staff in the dietary department.
• Maintains a clean kitchen. This includes all equipment, walls, dry storage, cold storage cooking, and preparation surfaces and dish storage areas.
• Ensures they and any employees reporting to them work in a safe manner and that potentially hazardous conditions are managed.
