Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma (or equivalent) or technical school.
• Strong ability to work independently and manage meal service for 20 residents.
• Some food service work experience required.
• Great communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Handle, transport and plate food for residents, guests and employees.
• Plate food according to the planned menu using standard recipes.
• Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions.
• Assist other kitchen staff as needed and perform duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ensure sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared.
• Communicate shortages or outages to supervisor.
• Ensure freshness, cooking status and proper temperature of all food served.
• Maintain daily logs, postings and documentation for meal services.
• Stock and clean station for next shift.
• Follow proper food rotation policies.
• Handle food and equipment according to sanitation policies; operate equipment safely.
• Report discrepancies to executive chef.
• Deliver and retrieve food carts to/from satellite kitchens.
• Set up service line and prepare for meal service.
• Wash, sanitize and store dishes and utensils.
• Monitor soap usage in dishwasher.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in work areas.
• Perform daily or scheduled cleaning duties per policy.
• Inventories and stocks food and paper goods.
• Prepare snacks and beverages between meals.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to executive chef.
• Maintain positive attitude supporting team environment.
• Promote positive public relations with residents, families and guests.
• Ensure resident rights and dignity in a safe environment.
