Qualifications

• Minimum one year cooking experience in restaurant or hospital dietary department.
• State certification or food service license required.
• General kitchen/dietary experience may be counted in lieu of direct cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, cooks, and serves food in accordance with the menu and standards, ensuring quality and proper presentation.
• Maintains proper food temperatures and records temperatures throughout cooking and holding.
• Assists in reviewing menus and recording substitutions with supervisor.
• Ensures supplies are available and prepared for meals; notifies supervisor of needed items.
• Keeps a clean, safe work area and assists in daily/ scheduled cleaning.
• Properly stores, labels, rotates, and discards outdated food per guidelines.
• Coordinates with dietary staff to ensure equipment operates at proper temperatures and reports faults.
• Follows fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical practices.
• Assists in planning and preparing meals for special events.
• Attends trainings and staff meetings; performs other duties as assigned.
