Job summary

Turning Point of Central California, Inc. is seeking a Direct Service Professional to provide direct care to residents and support the treatment goals under supervision of the Program Director.

The role requires strong English communication, emergency first aid certification, and reliable transportation. You will participate in daily living skills sessions, attend trainings, and help maintain records while ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and some college units in a social service, healthcare, education, or similar course of study.
• 6 months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Must meet the minimum age of 21 pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 1562.
• Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Ability to write acceptable progress reports required for treatment documentation.
• Work effectively with diverse ethnic, religious, socio-economical, and professional groups.
• Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.
• Must have less than 3 points on driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in accomplishing the treatment plan for residents under supervision.
• Maintain case documentation per agency and contract guidelines.
• Transport residents to doctors' appointments and labs.
• Conduct daily living skills sessions and re-socialization activities.
• Attend staff meetings and weekly supervision with the Program Director.
• Participate in trainings, seminars, and practicum.
• Support individual and group treatment programs and encourage participation.
• Motivate residents to develop self-reliance in daily living.
• Observe residents' condition and report changes to the Program Director.
• Ensure staffing ratios and be able to work all shifts when requested.
• Respond quickly and effectively in emergencies and drive on agency business.
