Job summary

OPCO Skilled Management is seeking a full-time cook to prepare meals for residents in a long-term care setting. You will follow planned menus, prepare foods, and ensure compliance with safety guidelines and nutrition standards.

The role involves reviewing menus, measuring portions, and assisting with ordering, storage, and daily kitchen operations to maintain quality and timely service.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale operation preferred.
• One year’s work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes; refer to supervisor for menu changes.
• Reviews menus, census information, production guides and pre-prep sheets to determine type and quantities of food.
• Prepares food according to safe handling guidelines per policy and state/federal codes.
• Assists with food ordering, storage and preparation as designated by supervisor; prepare food to preserve quality and serve on time.
• Maintains standards for food preparation and quality of food service; uses substitutes when required; follows recipes.
• Operates kitchen utensils and equipment; bakes, roasts, broils, and steams items.
• Prepares and assists with special function meals.
• Completes pre-preparation such as washing and cutting vegetables; slices meat and weighs for menu compliance.

Education
