Job summary

Viva Senior Living is seeking a Resident Care Associate to join our Nursing team and help create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home for our residents. As a Resident Care Associate, you will provide compassionate, person-centered support and work with residents to maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life.

You will follow individualized care plans, assist with daily living, mobility, transfers, and observe residents to report changes to the care team; training and ongoing support

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous caregiving, healthcare, senior living, memory care, home care, hospitality, or customer service experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be comfortable working with older adults, including residents who may have physical, cognitive, or behavioral challenges.
  • Must be dependable and able to work assigned shifts.
  • Must successfully complete required training and competency programs.
  • Must meet applicable health and employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and assistance to residents according to their individualized care plans.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and routine personal care.
  • Support residents with mobility, transfers, lifts, and transportation using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Assist with repositioning and mobility to promote resident comfort and safety.
  • Provide incontinence care and other personal care as assigned.
  • Help maintain residents’ skin integrity through appropriate personal care, repositioning, and observation.
  • Learn residents’ individual needs, preferences, routines, and abilities.
  • Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition, behavior, or needs to the Resident Care Director or appropriate care team member.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Respond to resident requests promptly, courteously, and compassionately.
  • Help create a warm, welcoming, and homelike environment.
  • Follow individualized care plans and provide observations that help the care team deliver excellent care.
  • Promote residents’ rights, dignity, privacy, choice, and independence.
  • Follow infection prevention, hand hygiene, safety, and proper handling procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and Protected Health Information.
  • Recognize and report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, mistreatment, or violations of residents’ rights.
  • Participate in required training, competency programs, emergency drills, and safety activities.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and resident evacuation when necessary.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and arrive ready to work at the scheduled time.
  • Follow all company, community, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Do

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on caregiving position and requires the ability to:

  • Move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull as needed
  • Assist residents with transfers, repositioning, mobility, and personal care
  • Lift, push, pull, move, and/or carry at least 25 pounds as required
  • Use mechanical lifting or mobility equipment when appropriate
  • Work safely with residents who may have physical, cognitive, or behavioral challenges
  • Assist with emergency evacuation procedures when necessary
  • Maintain the physical and emotional ability to provide safe and compassionate resident care
