Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a dedicated Resident Assistant/PCA in Delaware to provide quality, compassionate care to residents. You will help with daily living activities, monitor health status, assist with meals and mobility, and support activity programs while maintaining strict confidentiality and following all policies.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, completed PCA training as required by state regulations, and is capable of lifting and assisting residents

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have completed approved personal care aide program as per state regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work with all levels of staff.
  • Team player and follow directions from supervisor.
  • Polite, professional conduct with residents, visitors and coworkers.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Safely assist residents with transfers using proper mechanics.
  • Uniform and name badge must be worn during shifts.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care and assist residents with activities of daily living.
  • Report incidents and care concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Assist with housekeeping tasks in resident areas and common spaces.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
  • Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
  • Assist in planning and conducting resident activity programs.
  • Protect confidentiality of resident information.
  • Assist residents to meals and activities.
  • Monitor resident attendance at meals and events.
  • Communicate status and upcoming appointments to the team.
  • Support new residents during move-in and provide emotional reassurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.

  • Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCD, RN/LPN, or ED)
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living
  • Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisor
  • Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts
  • Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies
  • Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents
  • Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
  • Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities
  • Checks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activities
  • Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers
  • Assists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have successfully completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing
  • Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel
  • Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs
  • Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
  • Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner
