Job description

Ingleside Communities is a not-for-profit community-based facility providing a continuum of senior living services from nursing and rehabilitation to assisted living to senior apartments for the residents of Mt. Horeb and its surrounding communities. Ingleside is just a short 15-minute drive from the west side of Madison.

Ingleside is currently seeking dedicated full-time and part-time Resident Assistants / Caregivers for its CBRF and RCAC.

CBRF Available Positions
  • AM Shift – 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 7:00 AM–1:00 PM
  • PM Shift – 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
  • NOC Shift – 10:00 PM–6:30 AM
RCAC Available Positions
  • AM Shift – 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 7:00 AM–1:00 PM
  • PM Shift – 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
What do Resident Assistants / Caregivers do?
  • Communicate and interact with residents, families and other health team members as an essential component of this position. Performs a variety of assistive care duties, under the direct supervision of the Manager or Shift Leader to ensure the resident's Individual Service Plan (ISP) is being followed.
  • Encourages residents to maintain their independence.
  • Assists and guides residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as necessary.
  • Provides a home-like environment that encourages the optimum level of physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual activity.
  • Works independently, using sound judgment in the provision of personal and medical care, activities, and housekeeping/laundry services as scheduled.
  • Maintains a caring attitude toward residents at all times and demonstrates good judgment in all situations.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Assists with ADLs and provides direct care to residents following the resident's assessment and ISP as necessary.
  • Gives or assists with personal cares including hygiene, oral care, showers, sponge baths, tub baths, shampoos and sets, nail and skin care.
  • Assists with toileting as necessary, including care of incontinent residents.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills to successfully interact with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, and community and government agencies.
  • Supervises or assists residents with taking medications and develops a working knowledge of medications and possible side effects. Takes vital signs as directed by Manager or Shift Leader.
  • Reports observations to Manager or Shift Leaders and documents appropriately.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident's records including identity, behavior and medical conditions.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including performing house cleaning duties.
  • Washes, folds and puts away laundry, distributes to appropriate residents, ensuring residents’ names are on all clothing, towels, sets, socks, etc. at all times.
  • Arranges and assists with leisure activities as shown on activity board and encourages resident participation.
  • Assists with restorative activity, ambulation, range of motion as instructed by the Administrators or Shift Leaders.
Experience and Training Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Compassionate, self‑motivated.
  • Must have transportation to and from the facility.
  • Certification in Standard Precautions.
  • Certification in First Aid and Choking.
  • Certification in Fire Safety Training.
  • Medication and Diabetic certification.
  • Previous experience working directly with the elderly preferred but not required.
