The Resident Assistant provides residents and patients with routine personal care, recreational programming, housekeeping, and meal service in accordance with company standards, federal, state, and local regulations, and as directed by the Charge Nurse.

Essential Activities and Tasks

1. Care and Customer Management - 80%
2. Carry out daily care plans, including all aspects of basic daily living and personal care needs.
3. Execute scheduled daily activities for residents.
4. Assist residents with meals.
5. Provide medication reminders as permitted by Ohio law.
6. Know the location of assigned residents at all times.
7. Respond to residents' and staff members' needs.
8. Monitor residents’ health and report changes to Charge Nurses.

1. Administration and Reporting - 15%
2. Maintain accurate records using computers or other documentation methods in compliance with standards and regulations.
3. Inform the Charge Nurse of supply and equipment needs.
4. Share observations of departmental operations with the Charge Nurse.
5. Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.

1. Operations Management - 5%
2. Perform routine housekeeping and laundry tasks, report hazards.
3. Follow infection control, safety policies, and good body mechanics.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Healthcare experience preferred, especially in long-term care.

Other Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Working Conditions and Special Requirements

Sitting, standing, walking up to 8 hours/day; lifting up to 50 pounds; exposure to various hazards and infectious diseases.
