Cedarhurst of Waterloo, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a Resident Assistant at our Cedarhurst of Waterloo community.

As a Resident Assistant, you will assist and provide direction to residents with personal care needs which enable the resident to maintain good personal hygiene, carry out activities of daily living, maintain good health, and participate in community activities.

Responsibilities include:

1. Assisting residents with personal care needs such as grooming, hygiene, dressing, and nutrition.
2. Responding to signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine residents' needs proactively.
3. Taking and recording vital signs and food and fluid intake/output as directed.
4. Transporting and assisting residents with walking, turning, or repositioning.
5. Changing bed linens, running errands, directing visitors, and answering calls.
6. Assisting with laundry and housekeeping duties.
7. Helping residents to and from dining and assisting with meals.
8. Encouraging and assisting residents to participate in activities.
9. Listening to and understanding residents' problems and reporting observations to the care team.
10. Promoting residents' physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing, aiming to restore or maintain independence.
11. Understanding and respecting residents' Advance Directives.
12. Communicating effectively with residents' families regarding care.
13. Working collaboratively with staff, taking initiative, and resolving conflicts as needed.
14. Meeting physical demands such as standing, moving, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently or up to 200 pounds with assistance.
15. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. One year of experience as a resident assistant preferred.
3. Proficiency in internet browsers, Microsoft Office, EHR systems, and HR systems if applicable.
