Resident Aide

Pay: $17.25 per hour

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Job Summary

The Resident Attendant, as part of the direct service team, is responsible for assisting residents in maintaining their optimal level of functioning. The attendant must understand and carry out the wellness holistic philosophy of the Jewish Association on Aging and have a personal commitment to promote and advocate dignity, respect, individual rights, and a feeling of self‑worth for each resident.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment by being aware of hazards and removing them as needed.
  • Must be knowledgeable about fire and disaster procedures and participate in monthly fire drills.
  • Be alert to fire hazards and observe and enforce the facility’s no smoking policy.
  • Assist with personal care of the residents as needed—including ADLs such as bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, skin care, bladder and bowel function, bed making, and laundry.
  • Answer emergency lights promptly; assist with all emergencies as appropriate.
  • Observe residents for physical, cognitive, behavioral, and social changes and report to supervisors immediately.
  • Perform dining room duties during meals; escort residents and complete meal requests.
  • Assist with light housekeeping chores such as organizing closets, cleaning refrigerators and cabinets, and other tasks that support residents’ health, safety and well‑being.
  • Escort residents within Weinberg Terrace to activities or programs as needed.
  • Communicate with residents in a simple, concise, respectful manner.
  • Observe and enforce facility policies, including dress code, conduct code, and attendance policies.
  • Communicate with co‑workers and supervisors via written and oral means to ensure continuity of care.
  • Promote, maintain, and enhance each resident’s quality of life through socialization and participation in activities.
  • Observe and be aware of each resident’s whereabouts.
  • Respect and uphold the religious laws of the facility.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, families, and staff information.
  • Provide incontinence care as needed.
  • Participate in staff development programs such as attending scheduled in‑services.
Required Education, Training and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write and carry out instructions.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (will be provided).
  • Current medication administration training (will be provided).
  • Maintain annual required 12 CEUs, including mandatory training hours.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with residents, families and colleagues.
  • Positive working relationships with personnel from all departments.
  • Adherence to nutrition, personal hygiene, and infection control principles.
  • Proper documentation of procedures performed.

Covid vaccinations required. Exceptions only as required by law.
