Job summary

MCHS Family of Services seeks an Independent Living Plus (ILP) Resident Advisor to promote youth well-being on campus. You will supervise and support residents, teach life skills, and complete record-keeping as part of the ILP program.

You will work with the treatment team to help youths meet their goals, model critical life skills, and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure safety and compliance. This role requires a valid Michigan driver's license and dedication to MCHS'

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience: 1–3 years in human services with serious emotional disorder (SED) at-risk youth (16–19) preferred.
• Knowledge: Understanding of behavior modification and motivating youth toward goals; basic independent living skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the treatment team to help youths complete their treatment plans.
• Provide leadership, guidance and support by teaching independent living skills.
• Model life skills such as assertiveness, communication, conflict management, problem solving and decision making.
• Provide group and individual educational support and monitor youth participation in community resources.
• Dispense medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records.
• Travel or transport youths using agency vehicles as needed.
• Ensure safety and maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
