Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living seeks a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement programs for residents, promoting their psychological, physical and social well-being. You will support the Activity Director and lead diverse activities across one-on-one, small group, and large group settings.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, dementia awareness, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a positive attitude in a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Qualified by experience and training to develop programs for elders and disabled individuals.
• Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities.
• Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
• Shows ability to coordinate multiple tasks with a positive attitude under pressure

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a seven day a week activity program that is engaging
• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the schedule
• Support independent activity pursuits and encourage participation
• Understand residents' backgrounds, abilities, interests, and cognitive needs to tailor activities
• Encourage residents to attend programming and monitor changes in condition or behavior
• Communicate changes to Harbor Care Director and stay with groups during excursions
