Job summary

Cura of Willmar invites you to join our Activities Department as an Activity Assistant. If you enjoy planning fun programs, building relationships with seniors, and brightening each day through engaging activities, this role is for you.

You will help run programs ranging from arts and crafts to music, movement, and community outings, while ensuring safety and inclusivity. A compassionate, team‑oriented attitude and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in activities, recreation, healthcare, customer service, or working with older adults is preferred but not required.
• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality.

Responsibilities

• Encourage resident participation in daily activities and special events.
• Build positive relationships with residents through meaningful interactions.
• Provide one-on-one visits for residents who cannot or choose not to attend group activities.
• Adapt activities to meet individual interests and abilities of residents.
• Promote resident independence, dignity, and choice.
• Assist with planning, setting up, and leading a variety of activities (arts and crafts, bingo, exercise, music, holidays, education, social events, community outings).
• Prepare activity supplies and clean up after programs.
• Decorate the facility for holidays and special occasions.
• Assist residents to and from activities safely and report any concerns to nursing staff.
• Document attendance and participation; help maintain activity calendars and communication boards.
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, housekeeping to support resident-centered care.
• Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, and staff.
