Job summary

Elderwood Village at Colonie in Latham, NY is seeking an Activity Leader (Resident Activities Aide) to engage residents through creative, energetic programs. This full-time role focuses on leading group activities, special events, outings, and one-on-one interactions to brighten each day for residents in a 94-bed assisted living community.

Qualifications include HS diploma or equivalent, a NY driver’s license, and the ability to inspire others and adapt activities to individual needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York Driver's License and clean driving record.
• Ability to build relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors.
• Ability to inspire and modify activities to meet residents' needs.
• Understanding of the rights and needs of residents.
• Physical stamina for constant activity.
• This role requires English language proficiency at an intermediate level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Help plan and lead fun, engaging recreational and social activities.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities matching interests and abilities.
• Spend one-on-one time with residents and learn what makes them smile.
• Support special events, holiday celebrations, outings, and community activities.
• Collaborate with volunteers, organizations, and guests to bring new experiences.
• Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department inventory.
• Document resident participation and share observations with the care team.
• Create an environment where every resident is welcomed, included, and valued.
