Job summary

Albany Health and Rehabilitation is seeking an Activities Assistant to create engaging, meaningful experiences for residents in a full-time role. You will assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing activities, and help foster a warm, welcoming environment.

The position emphasizes teamwork with the Activities Director and staff, supporting programs that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being, and ensuring residents have safe, enjoyable activities daily.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Knowledge on the use of personal computers, e-mail accounts, software programs such as Word and Excel.
• Have a thorough understanding of the principles of best Activities practices.
• Patience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and willingness to handle residents based on whatever maturity and physical level in which they are currently functioning.
• The ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Corporate Compliance and HIPPA.
• Previous experience in long-term care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing resident activities.
• Encouraging residents to participate in individual and group activities.
• Helping with games, crafts, music, special events, outings, celebrations, and other programs.
• Spending one-on-one time with residents based on their interests and needs.
• Assisting with decorating and preparing for special events and holidays.
• Helping create a positive, fun, and welcoming environment for residents.
• Working closely with the Activities Director and other team members.
• Supporting programs that promote residents' social, emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being.
