Job summary

Central Maine Healthcare in Lewiston, Maine is seeking a dedicated Core Faculty Physician for the Family Medicine Residency Program. The position blends direct patient care with academic leadership and resident education in a supportive, community-focused hospital.

The Core Faculty Physician will supervise residents in clinical settings, contribute to curriculum development, assessments, and program administration in accordance with ACGME standards, and participate in scholarly activities.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification in Family Medicine (required)
• Unrestricted or eligible for unrestricted Maine medical license
• Minimum of 2–3 years clinical experience preferred
• Experience in teaching or supervising residents strongly preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to graduate medical education

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to geriatric and long-term care patients
• Diagnose and manage acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and geriatric syndromes
• Perform routine and comprehensive resident assessments
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions consistent with evidence-based guidelines
• Provide preventive care including immunizations, screenings, and health maintenance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, therapy, and social services
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
