Job summary

The University of Virginia's UVa Housing & Residence Life is seeking a Residence Life Coordinator to lead and coach Senior Residents who support Resident Advisers, reporting to an Assistant Dean. This in-person role is based in Charlottesville, VA.

You will supervise undergraduate Senior Residents and graduate Community Assistants, nurture community through training, mediations, and on-call coverage, while managing program budgets and collaborations with students and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Two years of experience.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in building community, managing crises, resolving conflicts, and promoting engagement.
• Masters degree preferred in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or related field.
• Two years of relevant experience in residence life, counseling, teaching, and living/learning environments preferred.
• Supervision experience preferred.
• Experience managing a budget or reconciling financial accounts preferred.
• Experience being on-call within a housing & residence life setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 4 - 6 undergraduate Senior Residents and/or graduate Community Assistants directly; indirectly supervise 35-65 Resident Advisors.
• Meet with residential students to provide resources and support by assisting in problem solving, roommate mediations, challenges, or concerns.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Administrative support of programmatic initiatives within assigned residential communities, including program development guidance, purchasing, and budget management.
• Mentor student leaders and support student self-governance by providing training, resources, and leadership to enhance student engagement and a positive living experience.
