Job summary

George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, seeks an Assistant Director of Residence Life to lead housing operations for ~1,500 undergrads. You will supervise Community Directors, Coordinators, and Grad staff, oversee LC procedures, and manage move-ins, health/safety inspections, and ongoing student engagement initiatives.

Reporting to the Associate Director, this live-on role requires strong leadership, budget oversight, and collaboration with campus partners to advance student success and safety.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in residence life and/or residential services.
• Experience supervising professional and/or student employees.
• Experience collaborating with campus partners to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision for Residence Life staff and graduate/undergraduate personnel.
• Develop and implement Learning Communities procedures and MOUs.
• Manage residential area operations, move-in/move-out, and health and safety visits.
• Oversee staff performance evaluations, training, and development.
• Coordinate partnerships with academic and UL stakeholders to support student success.
• Serve as a conduct and crisis response resource and participate in on-call rotation.
