Job summary

Northeastern University seeks a Residence Director to serve as a visible, student-facing leader in a residential community. The role requires a live-in on-campus apartment as the primary residence, with participation in an on-call rotation and untraditional hours including evenings and weekends.

The position is 12-month and full-time, with summer projects and opportunities to lead training for student leaders, while fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s in Student Affairs, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; crisis management abilities; event planning experience; commitment to belonging and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Organize and facilitate events, programs, and activities that foster community engagement and belonging among students.
• Develop and implement leadership training and development programs for student leaders and mentors.
• Serve as a hearing officer for Residential Life—hold administrative hearings, adjudicate cases, assign sanctions and referrals.
• Be on-call to respond to student emergencies and crises, providing immediate support and intervention.
• Mediate conflicts between students to promote an inclusive living environment.
• Collect and analyze student feedback to improve community engagement.
• Supervise a team of Resident Assistants.
• Assist in managing budgets for community programs and events.
