UNB Fredericton offers eleven residence buildings with a wide variety of room types that house approximately 1100 students during the academic year. Residence at UNB Fredericton offers students the opportunity to make their own decisions in a supportive environment to ensure a successful transition to university life.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time |Term Ending July 31, 2026| Fredericton| On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:45 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Evening and weekend work required on an on-call basis.
  • Required to reside on-campus.
  • An apartment and a full meal plan are included as a taxable benefit.

Salary Range: $50,332 - $62,911 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Residence, the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC)oversees the overall vision, impact, and administration of Residence Life on campus, as well as all aspects of staff training, and Residence Orientation. The RLC provides input into the development and implementation of policies as well as the internal residence discipline process. The RLC is responsible for the direct supervision of daily activities and the positive team dynamic of the Residence Life Team. The RLC assists students with and transitioning to residence life by developing and implementing programming that supports and develops community life. The RLC aids in enforcing residence behaviour standards and policies.

  • Recruit, onboard, train, mentor and coach Residence Life student staff.
  • Oversee day-to-day duties as well as create a schedule and chair weekly meetings.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions for Residence Life student staff when needed.
  • Provide leadership to Residence Life student staff by disseminating information, providing timely feedback and conducting performance reviews.
  • Mediate roommate conflicts when needed as well as negotiate and de-escalate student issues.
  • Advise students with personal, emotional, mental, and academic concerns and/or refer them to the appropriate university or community resources.
  • Plan and deliver Residence Orientation activities along with house/community meetings.
  • Consult with appropriate university personnel regarding any safety or security issues.
  • Promote responsible behaviour through personal role modelling and mentoring.
  • Foster mutual understanding and inclusiveness for all cultures, race, sexual orientations, gender identities, etc.
  • Manage all Residence programming and activities; ensuring that Residence Assistants are providing a balanced program of social, recreational, and educational programs and approve RA budgets.
  • Oversee RAs and liaise with community and campus partners in organizing programming that is aimed at residence students.
  • Ensure residence rules/policies are kept up-to-date and reflect the current needs of students, within reason.
  • Participate in various university committees as assigned by the Director, Residence.
  • Keep detailed documentation of interactions with students.
  • Understand and be able to coordinate/manage resources in residence in emergency situations (medical crisis, assault, sexual assault, etc.)

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a prior Residence Life role.
