Job summary

George Mason University in Fairfax, VA is hiring an Assistant Director of Residence Life to lead residence halls, develop Learning Communities, and oversee HRL operations for about 1,500 undergraduates. The role is hybrid eligible and reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life on the Fairfax Campus.

The position includes supervising four Community Directors/Coordinators, coordinating administrative functions, and collaborating with University Life to advance student success and safety

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years in residence life and/or residential services.
• Experience supervising professional and/or student staff.
• Experience supporting students through crises and complex concerns.
• Ability to monitor budgets and collaborate with campus partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for residence halls and supervision of staff.
• Develop and implement Learning Communities procedures and MOUs.
• Oversee administrative functions within the assigned area and housing operations.
• Support move-in/out, safety inspections, and health & safety processes.
• Lead staff meetings, training, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with University Life and divisional partners on goals and initiatives.
