Job summary

Capstone On-Campus Management is seeking a Community Assistant at the University of Akron housing. This student hourly role supports the residence hall service desk, handles calls, logs equipment use, and monitors access to the building.

Shifts run daily between early morning and evening; you must be a current University of Akron student, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. Compensation is $11.00 per hour, up to 20 hours per week, with no benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Currently enrolled student at the University of Akron.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA cumulatively and for the current semester.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality with all documentation and systems at service desks.
• Answer and appropriately direct incoming phone calls.
• Accurately log the use of residence hall equipment.
• Remain stationed at the front desk to monitor building access.
• Document lost and found items per guidelines.
• Report suspicious, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior to Residence Life staff or Campus Police.
• Respond to emergencies as outlined in the Service Desk Manual.
• Monitor alarm panels to ensure exterior doors are secure.
• Ensure all resident guests are escorted by their hosts at all times.
• Support Residence Life staff with initiatives such as surveys and hall government elections.
• Follow the University Student Code of Conduct, residence hall guidelines, and Residence Life policies.
