Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Reservoir Engineer focused on reservoir modeling and history matching to calibrate subsurface models against field performance. You will lead testing programs, diagnose model mismatches, and drive the next set of diagnostic tests to improve match quality.

The role emphasizes quantitative rigor, collaboration with completions and reservoir teams, and the design of repeatable workflows to accelerate history‑matching iterations in a fast-paced geothermal portfolio.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline).
• 5+ years of experience in reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, or hydraulic fracture modeling.
• Hands-on experience with reservoir and/or fracture simulation software (ResFrac, CMG, Eclipse).
• Experience history matching production, pressure, and/or fracture growth data against simulation models.
• Strong understanding of fluid flow in fractured/porous media and hydraulic fracture mechanics.
• Experience interpreting pressure transient and completion diagnostic data (DFITs, PLT/DTS/DAS, tracer, microseismic).
• Strong analytical, synthesis, and communication skills, including the ability to explain model uncertainty clearly.
• Strong programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python) to support model calibration and workflow automation.

Responsibilities

• Build and calibrate hydraulic fracture growth models against observed data.
• History-match fracture height, length, and complexity using treatment data.
• Characterize in-situ stress state and natural fracture interactions to guide fracture growth.
• Account for fracturing-fluid rheology in fracture models.
• Incorporate completion design parameters into fracture growth models.
• Translate calibrated fracture models into simulation-ready fracture network representations for downstream reservoir modeling.
• Quantify uncertainty in fracture geometry and communicate its impact on well and pad predictions.
• Build and maintain reservoir simulation models and history-match production, injection rates, and pressure.
