Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to build long-term production forecasts, perform economic evaluations of development scenarios, and own resource estimates. You will translate subsurface performance into corporate planning and support financing with technical inputs.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline) required.
  • 5+ years of reservoir engineering, reserves evaluation, or production forecasting; advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Strong understanding of decline curve analysis, type curve development, and forecasting workflows.
  • Experience with reserves estimation and reporting standards (e.g., SPE-PRMS).
  • Experience building economic models (NPV, IRR, cash flow) and sensitivity/scenario analyses.
  • Strong financial modeling skills (advanced Excel) and familiarity with reservoir forecasting or simulation tools.
  • Ability to assess subsurface and forecast uncertainty and communicate risk clearly to financial and executive audiences.
  • Strong analytical, synthesis, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain portfolio-wide production forecasts for long-term planning.
  • Develop and update type curves and decline/analytical models calibrated to observed field performance.
  • Translate reservoir performance and subsurface uncertainty into probabilistic forecast ranges for planning and budgeting cycles.
  • Maintain the long-range plan (LRP) production forecast with Development and Corporate Finance.
  • Partner with Corporate Finance to translate reservoir forecasts into cash flow models and investor materials.
  • Support financing processes with technical forecast inputs and asset-level due diligence.
  • Conduct economic evaluations of new prospects, development scenarios, and capital projects (NPV, IRR, payback).
  • Deliver clear economic recommendations to asset teams and leadership.
