The shuttle driver will provide transportation on a determined schedule between Colby College and Downtown Waterville and provide some security services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The shuttle driver will be expected to respond to calls for service in a timely and professional manner to the off-campus residence hall, support and enforce College policies, and work effectively as a member of the Security staff and as a member of a diverse community. This CDL position is regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). All drivers must pass a DOT drug screen and remain in compliance with ongoing testing. While marijuana is legal in Maine, it is prohibited for CDL drivers under federal law. A positive test will disqualify candidates from this role.
Reporting to the assistant director of security, this position has significant interactions with students, faculty, staff, and other outside constituencies.
General campus environment. Position involves frequent movement. Employee must be able to sit and drive for long periods of time. Some lifting and computer use possible. The shuttle operates Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Successful and satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) and a pre-employment health screening.
