Job summary

The City of Oskaloosa, IA seeks a Reserve Firefighter to support its Fire Department in protecting life and property within the city and surrounding area.

Responsibilities include fire suppression, rescue, emergency response, prevention activities, station and equipment upkeep, and training. Must meet entry requirements and maintain fitness; two monthly trainings and potential two 24-hour shifts may apply when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and HazMat Operations certifications.
• Learn firefighting, rescue, emergency response, and department procedures.
• Operate emergency communications, firefighting vehicles, equipment, and computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fires, accidents, rescues, medical emergencies, and other calls.
• Performs fire suppression, extrication, salvage, and related operations.
• Assists EMS with patient care as needed.
• Inspects and maintains apparatus and equipment; keeps station and grounds clean.
