Job summary

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office seeks qualified peace officers to become Reserve Deputy Sheriffs. Reserve deputies supplement sworn personnel, are trained and commissioned as peace officers, and may be assigned to patrol, CID, warrants, court security, and schools.

They must meet the same hiring, medical, and psychological standards as full-time deputies and complete a comprehensive background check and interview. Training is provided at no cost to reserves.

Qualifications

• Reserve Deputies must work a minimum of 16 hours per month.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 21 years old at time of application.
• Must possess Texas Peace Officer license.
• Must be in good physical and mental health.
• Must not have a history of criminal or improper personal conduct.
• United States citizenship required.
• All training with the BCSO is free of charge.

Responsibilities

• Assist sworn deputies in patrol, CID, warrants, court security, and school programs.
• Carry out duties assigned according to expertise and available positions.
• Maintain the same powers of arrest as full-time deputies and meet same standards.
• Complete required background checks, polygraph, and interviews.
