Job summary

Bexar County is seeking qualified peace officers to join the Reserve Deputy program. Reserve Deputies supplement sworn personnel in court security, warrants, civil process, and school program tasks.

They are trained and commissioned through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, armed and held to the same standards as full-time deputies. A background check and interview are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Peace Officer license (POST).
• Must be at least 21 years old at application.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must possess Texas Class C driver’s license.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Must be in good physical and mental health.
• Background check and interview required.

Responsibilities

• Reserve deputies supplement sworn full-time personnel in Court Security, warrants, civil process, and assignments.
• They are trained and commissioned as peace officers through TCLEOSE.
• Maintain arrest powers similar to full-time deputies.
• Perform duties assigned by precinct, including school program and special assignments.
