The legendary Joe’s Stone Crab first opened in Miami Beach in 1913. It all began when Joseph Weiss, the “Joe” of Joe’s Stone Crab, and his wife Jennie set up seven or eight tables on the front porch of the house they owned. More than 100 years later, Joe’s has become one of the most beloved and widely recognized restaurants in the world, famous for its Florida Stone Crab, signature sides and key lime pie. In 2000, a partnership was born between the Sawitz/Weiss family and founder of Lettuce Entertain You, Richard Melman. Together they opened Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab in Chicago, a sophisticated restaurant featuring a selection of prime steaks, quality seafood and the signature dishes of Joe’s Stone Crab. The restaurant quickly built a reputation as one of the most popular restaurants in Chicago. RSERVATIONIST JOB DESCRIPTION

The Reservationist answers inbound calls, takes reservations, updates the reservations database and provides engaging customer service to effectively address guest requests; also communicates with management with questions or concerns. Accurately records and accounts for carryout items ordered, process payments, and balances all sales/receipts.

Essential Functions

• Answer inbound calls; receive, record and confirm all reservations; and provide engaging customer service to address guests’ requests, including but not limited to suggesting alternatives reservations as needed, using sales techniques and answering questions about the restaurant and menu; and communicate with management as needed with questions or concerns
• Accurately take and package food and beverage orders for guests placing carryout orders
• Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payments, and balance all sales/receipts in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
• Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu
• Efficiently handle special requests including but not limited to assisting guests including those with disabilities using Company guidelines
• Update and maintain accuracy of guest profiles in reservations database
• Follow all steps of service
• Ensure that the office and/or host desk are kept clean and organized throughout the shift
• Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu
• Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
• Work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
• Comply with all safety and sanitation (including handwashing) guidelines and procedures
• Proficiently use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including the reservation, telephone, paging and voicemail systems, and phone etiquette and message guidelines
• Successfully complete alcohol awareness training as required

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs
• Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile
• Use tact and good judgement when dealing with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy
• Assist with maintaining restrooms
• Maintain proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including the reservation, telephone, paging and voicemail systems
• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
• Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Get along well with others and be a team player
• Other duties will be assigned as needed
