The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Biology, seeks a Researcher Senior Lead to serve as the application development lead for Cayo Hub, coordinating data intake, management, and analysis across an NIH U19 project.
You will guide software development, APIs, and interfaces to support large-scale multi-omic and phenotypic datasets, leading a multidisciplinary team toward data-driven aging research goals.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Biology, is in search of a dedicated Researcher Senior Lead to join their team. The Researcher Senior Lead will work as a database engineer and application developer embedded in an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional team supported by an NIH U19 award that is aiming to integrate large-scale datasets from free-ranging nonhuman primates, including single-cell and bulk-tissue multi-omic data, immune phenotyping, social-network phenotypes, longitudinal physiological measures, survival, and reproductive outcomes. The Researcher Senior Lead will serve as the application development lead of Cayo Hub, the data management and informatics core of the U19, and coordinate with other Cayo Hub team members and the broader U19 researcher community to extend and develop software tools that support data intake, management, curation, and analysis. These tools will be essential in identifying molecular and environmental drivers of inter-individual and within-individual variation in biological aging across tissues, organ systems, and the life course.
As a Researcher Senior Lead, you will be at the forefront of research leadership, guiding the overall research strategy and overseeing the execution of multiple high-impact projects. This emerging leader role demands exceptional expertise and visionary thinking, with responsibilities including securing major funding, influencing research policy, and driving innovation. You will lead large, interdisciplinary teams, ensuring the highest standards of scientific excellence and significantly impacting the field. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
