Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking a candidate for a short-term, 2-year assignment at the Saint Paul campus. The role involves lab experiments, data analysis of sequencing datasets, and providing technical support and supervision as needed.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with a focus on safety, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Salary ranges from $30.93 to $33.70 per hour, dependent on education and experience.

Qualifications

• BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Previous lab/research experience.
• Proficient computer skills.

About The Job

This is a short-term position with an expected duration of 2 years with the possibility of extension.

Work Environment

Location: University of Minnesota, Saint Paul Campus

Schedule: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week

Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Job Duties

• 33% - Conduct and coordinate field and molecular lab experiments
• 33% - Perform basic data analysis of large next-generation sequencing data sets and high throughput phenotyping data sets
• 34% - Other technical support and research as required such as supervision responsibilities, technical guidance/training to other members of the group, and lab management responsibilities including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety compliance

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to

equal six years; position involves comparing, verifying and reconciling data to help the department achieve overall objectives.

• Previous lab research experience and/or field research experience
• Proficient computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous lab management experience
• Previous plant research experience
