Job summary

SciTech Services, Inc. seeks a Veterinary Technician I to support the health and well-being of research animals in Edgewood, MD. The role includes daily health checks, data collection, and maintaining medical records under veterinary direction.

Responsibilities cover various species, SOP adherence, and assisting with veterinary procedures in a high-demand, controlled environment. LAT within 1 year is required, with potential for growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in research animal veterinary technician care.
• LAT qualified within 1 year of accepting position.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Environment is noisy with high ambient temperature (>77°F).

Responsibilities

• Perform daily health checks on research animals across species.
• Collect and record physiological data and report abnormalities.
• Assist with basic surgical setup and procedures.
• Prepare and administer individualized diets and medical treatments.
• Maintain electronic medical records and treatment plans.
• Ensure proper handling, restraint, and sample collection for diagnostics.
