A full-time Research Technologist position is available in Dr. Yongsoo Kim's laboratory in the Neural and Behavioral Sciences Department at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. The lab focuses on understanding the cell type architecture of the nervous system and its role in cognitive functions using mice as models. Main research interests include neurodevelopmental disorders like autism and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
The primary tools are whole brain mapping using high-resolution 3D imaging and computational analysis in rodents. More details are available at https://kimlab.io/. Responsibilities include performing high-resolution brain imaging, sample preparation including tissue clearing, managing mouse colonies, genotyping, and other lab support tasks. Additional duties involve supervising students, ordering supplies, managing lab animals and expenses, assisting with data analysis and safety protocols, and maintaining equipment. Candidates should be willing to learn new techniques, be responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, flexible, communicative, and well-organized. Preference is given to candidates with these skills.
While 3+ years of lab experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Please submit your CV and 2-3 references.
This position is classified as Professional or Intermediate Professional, depending on education and experience. A Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience is required; higher levels require additional education or experience.
This is a limited-term position funded for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
