JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Core Reference Lab, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Research Technologist. The Research Technologist- Medical Science develops, designs, and conducts clinical research projects/experiments; investigates and evaluates research methods, advises faculty/researchers on methodology; collects, correlates, analyzes, summarizes, and reports results; identifies data integrity issues; trains users in equipment operation and research techniques; and oversees daily project operations.

• Conduct clinical research projects or experiments; ensure protocol adherence; review progress and evaluate results
• Perform experimental tasks including preparing specimens, microscopy, surgical procedures, labeling, cell cultures, and molecular and cell biology techniques
• Execute and develop data collection procedures; record, analyze, and summarize data
• Oversee processing and archiving of clinical samples according to protocols
• Contribute to research method design; identify problems; recommend solutions
• Make recommendations for data management and visualization software
• Train users in equipment operation and research techniques
• Develop project protocols; ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness
• Author papers, proposals, presentations, and reports to disseminate findings

This position will be filled at an Intermediate or Advanced Professional level depending on education and experience, requiring a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year, with potential renewal.
