Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Anthropology is seeking a full-time Research Technologist to join a locomotion biomechanics laboratory on the University Park campus. The role involves managing lab equipment, assisting with human subject data collection, and developing data analysis code.

You will train undergraduate and graduate researchers, help prepare human subject protocols, manuscripts, and grant proposals, and contribute to the lab’s research on musculoskeletal biology.

Qualifications

This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

The Department of Anthropology within the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking an organized, motivated, and intellectually curious individual to work as a full-time Research Technologist in a locomotion biomechanics laboratory.

The laboratory is housed at Penn State's University Park campusand conducts research on human locomotion and musculoskeletal biology.

  • Managing laboratory equipment, supplies, software, databases, and paperwork.
  • Assisting with experimental data collection from human subjects and cadaveric specimens.
  • Analyzing biomechanical and anatomical data collected from experiments, including writing new data analysis code.
  • Training undergraduate and graduate student researchers in lab techniques.
  • Assisting with writing human subject research protocols, research manuscripts, and grant proposals.
Qualifications:

Research experience and/or coursework in biomechanics and coding is preferred but not required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedRequired Certifications:None

A degree in one of the following fields or a related field is preferred: kinesiology, computer science, anthropology, sport science, physical therapy, physics, mechanical engineering, biology.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $40,608.00 - $58,836.00.
