Description of Work:
Primary activities include but are not limited to performing laboratory analysis, developing new assays and protocols relating to gene cloning, genetic manipulation, phenotyping, and metabolic profiling. Consult with users of the core regarding sample collection, storage, and processing. Manage and analyze data, prepare written protocols for services provided by the core. Participate in meetings to optimize experimental design by core users. Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment. Manage and order laboratory supplies. Hold training sessions for molecular biology laboratory classes and users and their staff in the core facility on facility research equipment. Prepare reports for users, center director and core director. Prepare billing statements for customers as well as UNL Accounting. Work with the Business Center and BORC Director annually to evaluate and reassess lab pricing and services.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related science area plus 3 years of experience with gene cloning, vector construction, site-directed mutagenesis, mammalian cell cultures, gene expression analysis, and genomics databases required. Ability to utilize advanced scientific knowledge and consistently apply discretion and judgment essential. Experience with basic and skilled lab procedures necessary. Must have intermediate data collection, analysis, interpretation and report writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in related science area preferred. Authorship or co-authorship on scientific publications desirable. Prefer laboratory management experience. Supervisory experience desirable. Experience with laboratory billing and price structuring preferred.
Posted Salary: $52,000/yr. minimum
