Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Technical supervisor, provides ancillary support for clinical activities by performing and interpreting moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory tests as defined under CLIA '88. A minimum of 3 years of lab experience as a certified medical technologist is required.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs and interprets moderate and high complexity tests.
• Reviews testing procedures performed by staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Prioritizes STAT and routine samples.
• Ensures accurate specimen processing and labeling, maintaining adherence to departmental policies.
• Performs maintenance, quality control, and quality assurance functions related to testing.
• Is fully operational on all LIS systems, including general and instrument-based systems.
• Communicates all critical values promptly.

Education and Certification Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry). Successful completion of a clinical internship in an accredited laboratory is also required. Certification by agencies such as ASCP, NCA, ASM, HEW, or AMT is strongly preferred.
