The Biomarker Core of Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (BU ADRC) at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) is seeking to fill a full-time Research Technician 2 position. The role requires laboratory experience, coordination of research samples, data entry, and organization. The project involves a multidisciplinary study following a large cohort, utilizing biospecimens and datasets to investigate Alzheimer’s disease etiologies and risk factors. The successful candidate will join a team of motivated professionals.
Responsibilities include processing blood and cerebrospinal fluid samples, exosome extraction, conducting ELISA and immunoassays, cell assays, and characterizations of DNA, RNA, and proteins related to Alzheimer’s Disease. The role involves working in a collaborative environment, recruiting and following up with cohort participants, collecting biospecimens and neuroimaging data, and responding to sample requests from faculty, postdocs, and collaborators. The technician will also train students, postdocs, faculty, and the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center in research techniques, as well as test and adapt new methods. Additionally, handling Alzheimer’s mouse models and characterizing brain tissues via immunostaining and molecular techniques are part of the duties.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of laboratory experience; Master’s degree preferred.
