Job summary

The University of Rochester in Rochester, NY is seeking a Lab Technician to support the Kim laboratory with routine and non-routine tasks under guidance from Dr. Kim.

You will perform cellular immunology techniques including flow cytometry and microscopy, analyze data, and help maintain QC records and inventory. The role requires a high school diploma and an Associate's degree in a biological science, with 5 years of relevant experience preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct research support in the Kim laboratory.

• Extracts and analyzes experimental data; analyzes flow cytometry data using Flowjo and other software.
• Maintains QC tracking of methods and reagent performance; manages inventory and database.

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

• GENERAL PURPOSE Provide direct research support in the Kim laboratory. The Lab Technician will perform non-routine laboratory assignments involving some complexity and variety, with counsel from Dr. Kim.
• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Plans and performs a variety of moderately complex laboratory tests, analyses, and observations, using techniques of cellular immunology including flow and microscope.
• Applies to evaluate interdisciplinary clinical studies and trials.
• Extracts and analyzes experimental data; analyzes flow cytometry data using Flowjo and other proprietary software.
• Assesses the importance of findings in relation to the general research program.

• Maintains quality control tracking of methods and reagent performance performing QC testing and maintenance of computerized inventory and database.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED Required
• Associate's degree in a biological science or a related field, with major course work in the field of Microbiology & Immunology Preferred
• 5 years' experience with performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities; compiling and collecting data and preparing reports or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
• Experience with flow cytometry and microscope Preferred
