Position Summary
The McHugh Lab in the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University seeks two laboratory technicians to support a project on vaccine development. The project, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, involves creating a controlled-release vaccine platform to enable combination vaccines, particularly encapsulating a next-generation polio vaccine using the PULSED platform. Responsibilities include fabricating microparticles, conducting in vitro release studies, performing ELISAs, in vivo studies, and data analysis. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is expected.
Ideal Candidate
Highly motivated individuals with strong teamwork and communication skills are preferred. Experience with controlled-release studies is a plus but not required. Interest in global health or translational research is desirable. Mentorship will be provided, and this role is suitable for those seeking research experience for advanced degrees in bioengineering, immunology, or related fields.
Workplace Requirements
This position requires on-site work at Rice University. Candidates must be able to perform wet lab experiments. Work arrangements may change per Rice policy.
Compensation
Hourly range: $18.89 - $22.69. It is a one-year term position with potential renewal, funded through August 2027.
