Job summary

The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook is seeking a Research Technician I to support a pharmacology project. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and hands-on experience with cell culture and animal experimentation.

You will work under general supervision in the Department of Pharmacological Sciences. The incumbent will perform routine and semi-skilled tasks, maintain lab inventory, assist in ordering, and participate in weekly meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Pharmacology or related field.
• Experience with cell culture and animal experimentation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Performing lab experiments, as discussed with the principal investigator, Dr. Tsirka.
• Assist with maintaining compliance with environmental health and safety procedures by assembling, preparing and dispensing.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings.
• Maintain lab inventory and equipment.
• Assist in ordering supplies and equipment to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
• Mentoring undergraduate/high school students.
• Other duties/projects as assigned.
