Job summary

The Ray Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a motivated individual to assist with experiments, animal management, and general lab duties. The role supports neural circuit research using rodent models and cellular/molecular techniques, with data entry and inventory tasks across standard software tools.

Required is an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least one year of related work.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field; two years of related experience may substitute for degree.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with cellular and molecular techniques including plasmid DNA and cell culture techniques
  • Rodent handling and husbandry
  • Assists with productivity software including Microsoft Office and Adobe products, databases, and other management/organization software
  • Inventory, management and ordering of equipment, consumables and supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with national, state and local regulations
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summary

The Ray Lab is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist with experiments, animal management, and general lab duties. The Ray lab studies the neural circuits governing our behavior and physiology. We utilize automated assays for measuring behavior and physiology in genetic animal models as part of the path of discovery for patient based diagnostics and therapeutics.

Job Duties
  • Assists with cellular and molecular techniques including plasmid DNA and cell culture techniques
  • Rodent handling and husbandry
  • Assists with productivity software including Microsoft Office and Adobe products, databases, and other management/organization software
  • Inventory, management and ordering of equipment, consumables and supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with national, state and local regulations
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred experience handling lab mice or rats and working with genetically engineered lines, prior experience with basic laboratory techniques, including PCR or histology.
  • Preferred proficiency in cellular and molecular techniques including plasmid DNA and cell culture techniques and with productivity software including Microsoft Office and Adobe products, databases, and other management/organization software.
