The Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy invites applications for a Laboratory Assistant in the neuroscience division. Under supervision, you will genotype, manage a mouse colony, prepare reagents, and assist with electrophysiology recordings and behavioral assays.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in science and familiarity with basic lab techniques. Prior experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
The Department of Neuroscience is a basic science department that focuses on cutting-edge research in the areas of synapse development and function, sensory systems, and complex behavior, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioral neurobiology. The Dr. Latif-Hernandez lab is supported by foundation and university funding. The faculty within the department is also extensively involved with the Graduate School of Biomedical Science Program in Neuroscience as well as teaching within the medical school.
Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator, the individual will conduct a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols. The primary functions of this position include: 1) Genotyping and managing a mouse colony, 2) Preparation of solutions and reagents, 3) laboratory tasks, and 4) assisting with experimental procedures including animal behavior, biochemical techniques, and electrophysiology recordings.

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
