Job summary

The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Technician to assist with diabetes trials. Shifts are variable in time and location and may include weekend, evening, or daytime hours, with most shifts involving patient contact.

Candidates should be comfortable with Windows, able to learn and troubleshoot new technology, and have familiarity with Android devices and Bluetooth.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of laboratory experience; student experience counts.
  • Licensure: None.
  • CPR, CITI, and Bloodborne pathogen training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot a computer system, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and Android phone during a clinical trial.
  • Data maintenance, which may involve compiling, coding, categorizing, and storing data in an electronic format.
  • Handling and processing lab specimens.
  • Organizing, setting up, and cleaning study devices.
