Job description

Overview

The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Technician to assist with trials centering around diabetes. Shifts will be variable in time and location and may include weekend, evening, or daytime hours. Most shifts will involve patient contact. Incumbent must be able to follow HIPAA guidelines regarding patient health information and be reliable and detail oriented.

The preferred candidate should have experience with Windows and the ability to learn and troubleshoot new technology. An understanding of Android and Apple cell phones and Bluetooth technology is beneficial. Prefer candidates who have prior experience working in a laboratory or with participant-facing work and have CPR, CITI, and Bloodborne pathogen training.

Responsibilities

Compensation

Compensation range $15–18 per hour depending on incumbent experience.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience required.

Licensure: None.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. This position will require a Drug Screen and Health Screen.
