Job summary

The Bose Lab at University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Research Technician to support studies on human bacterial pathogens. Under supervision, you will follow established procedures, maintain records, and generate data for papers and grants.

You will manage inventory, maintain notebooks, and collaborate with other labs nationwide while contributing to compliant lab operations and regular lab meetings.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of research experience with bacteria. Education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree Microbiology or related field.
  • Experience with PCR, Western blot, aseptic technique, dilution plating, and other microbiological methods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage lab inventory including ordering and restocking of supplies and other lab records.
  • Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.
  • Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US.
  • Generation of data and documentation of research for published papers and grant submissions.
  • Discuss experimental design and interpretation of results in lab meetings.

## Research Technician - Bose LabApplylocations: Kansas City Metro Areatime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR010285## **Department:**SOM KC Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetic and Immunology-----Bose Lab## **Position Title:**Research Technician - Bose Lab## **Job Family Group:**Professional Staff## **Job Description Summary:**The Bose lab seeks a Research Technician to conduct research on human bacterial pathogens.## **Job Description:****Key Roles and Responsibilities****Research Overview:** Under the direct supervision of PI and other research staff, it conducts routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures, and record results.* Manage lab inventory including ordering and restocking of supplies as well as other laboratory records.* Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.* Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US.* Generation of data and documentation of research performed for the preparation of published papers, as well as assistance on grant submissions and other documentation necessary for laboratory compliance.* Participate in regular communication with the PI and lab members via lab meetings and to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results.**Compliance:** Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology Department, understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols, and attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
